AZED Pro Cohort Program
Cohort Program
The AAED Economic Development Cohort Program aims to cultivate a diverse group of visionaries who will spend a year learning and growing together. Cohort participants have the benefit of building lasting relationships in the industry while gaining the tools necessary to develop innovative solutions, spark job creation, and build resilient economies in their local communities and beyond. The program is overseen by a Practitioner Advisor who provides one-on-one check-ins with each Cohort member and plans an exclusive gathering outside of the courses.
At the end of the program, Cohort participants receive their AZED Pro Certification and participate in a graduation ceremony at AAED’s Fall Forum.*
*Cohort members must complete all 7 required courses in one year to be eligible for graduation.
Program Benefits

Cohort Program FAQs
What happens if I am unable to attend one of the scheduled classes?
You may miss one (1) course, continue in the cohort, and attend the graduation ceremony. You won’t receive your certificate and official AZED Pro designation until you complete the missed course. Your Cohort program fee will be applied to the makeup course date.
If you miss two (2) courses, you must exit the cohort and complete your AZED Pro independently. You can attend the courses but cannot participate in Cohort activities or the graduation ceremony. All missed courses must be completed before receiving your AZED Pro designation. Your Cohort program fee will be applied to the makeup course dates.
Is there an online option?
No, except for in-person classes that cannot be held due to public health restrictions or to make up a single (1) class. To ensure sufficient enrollment, support the quality of instruction, and reap the benefits of a cohort system, all participants must otherwise attend in person.
Will the only people in my classes be from my cohort?
No. Any AZED Pro Course may be attended by cohort members or individuals pursuing their certification independently. Cohort members and individuals attending classes are encouraged to network and interact regardless of whether they are in a cohort or not.
Why are Cohort classes more expensive?
The additional fees cover the cost of the kickoff dinner and additional educational opportunities exclusively for their cohort.
What happens if I prepay and cannot attend a class or multiple courses?
AAED will apply your prepaid program fee to future makeup courses. For example, if you miss the Purple course, a credit will be applied when you register for the next Purple course. If you no longer wish to pursue your AZED Pro after missing multiple courses, AAED can provide a refund.
Can I join a cohort after it has already begun?
No. You will have to wait until the next cohort begins.
Do I have to be a member of AAED to participate?
No, both AAED members and non-members may participate in the cohort program.
Are there any eligibility requirements to participate?
No.
