Job DescriptionThe ASU Office of Economic Development (OED) within the ASU Knowledge Enterprise (KE) is seeking an innovative and enterprising Associate Director to join their team. In this position, you will support the OED team’s effort to support external partners and to collaborate across the ASU Public Enterprise as well as ASU Business and Finance. The ASU Economic Development team helps companies and community partners leverage the nation’s most innovative university to create jobs, nurture new businesses, support existing companies and assist civic leaders in making informed decisions about economic growth in their communities. We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated, organized and experienced who thrives in a dynamic environment who may be in the heart of campus one day and presenting in a boardroom the next. Economic Development at ASU means collaborating with internal and external teams to foster connections that will lead to innovative solutions and partnerships to benefit both the University and the communities we serve. The Associate Director will work across the ASU Enterprise to cultivate and secure private tenants to be co-located with ASU as well as representing ASU supporting local municipal partners and advancing regional economic development initiatives. The Associate Director will perform work with broad engagement across the university and a variety of internal and external stakeholders. This position will be tasked with coordinating certain administrative and operational activities of the department and may supervise one or more economic development staff members. Reports to the Executive Director for Economic Development + Innovation Zones. Innovation Zones at ASU provide an opportunity for external entities to work in close proximity with ASU staff, students and faculty, as well as with other high-profile industry leaders. ASU’s seven Innovation Zones offer tenants a wide range of customizable options appropriate to size, industry and need. Essential Job Functions
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND seven (7) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Eleven (11) years of related administrative experience, which includes four (4) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
