Job Description SummaryThe Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) & Attraction Manager leads efforts to attract new businesses to Pima County, expand the existing tax base and primary employment within Pima County, and create cross-border FDI and supply and manufacture chain integration opportunities. This position will develop strong relationships with international industry, government, investment, academia, and innovation ecosystem partners to attract and grow new investment into Pima County through those relationships and leveraging regional assets. The position will include significant travel to target markets, and also include identification, creation and implementation of strategies and programs that strengthen Pima County’s position as a primary destination for FDI and cross-border economic development. The role also collaborates with internal departments, as well as public, private, and educational partners to enhance competitiveness, support industry growth, and improve the overall business climate while serving as a key advocate for the needs of the community. Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline relative to the position held as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND a minimum of five years of experience working as a project manager on a variety of complex projects, INCLUDING one year of supervisory responsibilities. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.) OR: One year with Pima County as a Project Manager I or closely-related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment. Selection Procedure: Supplemental InformationLicenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record. Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems.
